Red Sox attempt to sign ''unknown commodity!''
Apparently the WBC didn't happen!
Boston media chimes in on Matsuzaka
Boston media chimes in on Matsuzaka
The National Geographic Education Foundation recently launched a campaign entitled My Wonderful World, it's goal is to vigorously promote geographic literacy at home, in schools and in communities. It came on the back of polls such as that released by 'Roper' recently that found 60% of polled children between the ages of 13-18 in the United States couldn't find Africa on a map.
Well, 100% of Boston Globe journalists have no clue how Matsuzaka preformed in the recent World Baseball Classic.
I know the States didn't win the WBC (Or the Basketball, or the World Cup, or the Ice Hockey) but is that really a reason to completely ignore the competition?
One of my absolute favourite Boston Globe journalists, Eric Wilbur, writes;
''- the bottom line remains that nobody is quite sure how he'll fare once arriving in America. While names like Ichiro and Hideki Matsui are most commonly associated with Matsuzaka, guys like Hideki Irabu and -- while not Japanese -- Robinson Checo remain the primary concerns about importing unknown commodities into the major leagues.''
To equate Robinson Checo to the MVP of the WBC is insane on a 'Fox' level of reporting. Joe Buck would shy away from that comment. He might even sue if associated with it.
Meanwhile, Bob Ryan, also of the Globe, openly admits he didn't watch the World Baseball Classic;
''Don't look at me. I didn't watch enough of the World Baseball Classic to even know if I saw him, however briefly it might have been. ''
The 'unknown commodity' Eric speaks of won the MVP of the World Baseball Classic. He was absolutely dominating. His stuff is sensational, and judging by the fantastic Team Japan performance in the WBC, hey maybe the Japanese league isn't absolutely awful!
I mean Matsuzaka is no Adam Eaton (Great to hear the Sox are having a look at that free agent, he is no WBC MVP but he's American!! Yeeha!), but golly, maybe he can throw the ball pretty decent if he was the MVP of the WBC?
Eric, Bobby Ryan, you are going to absolutely love the unknown commodity!
Ps: Shame you missed the WBC, it was pretty neat.

I had the pleasure of seeing D-Matz in the WBC in San Diego -- very excited about the possibility of him wearing red socks.
