For those of you blindly rushing out to hand Cliff Lee the Cy Young, just wait there one second and actually compare Clifton Phifer Lee to Harry Leroy III Halladay. The tragedy here is there is a huge momentum behind Lee's campaign while Hallady has kept banging out incredible starts all year long pretty much under the radar. Lee probably will take the award, and frankly, that's a travesty.
Strong words, let's back them up with numbers.
Hallady has better numbers than Lee in virtually every category. He worked a super human 246 innings (that is not a typo) and handed in a stellar 9 complete games. Halladay struck out 206 batters and posted a fantastic 1.05 WHIP.

All of those numbers best Lee's effort. Lee is probably going to take the award based on his gaudy win/loss record, which is just lazy on the writers part.
The numbers in the engine room that Halladay put up, the 9 complete games, 2 shut-outs, 246 innings and crazy 1.05 WHIP all point towards a CY Young season. If there's any justice in this crazy mixed up world we live in, maybe a few eligible voting writers will take notice of this and Halladay will get rewarded for his incredible work in '08.

Again - excellent posts.
Well both plans came to fruition last night - I watched the whole game live and the Sox rewarded the dedication. What a pitching performance by Lester (and Lackey) - a thoroughly enjoyable few hours.
