The future is...now?

So, word on the street is that big Schill may not make his next start. Well, hopefully he manages to shake whatever is bugging him and come back stronger. In the meantime...

From the glass half full side of life...how about a peek at this fella?

Come on, your telling me you didn't think about the possibility?

Wouldn't you rather see Gabbard come up and give Lester a little more time to get ready?

No sir, I would not. Thought about that for about ten seconds. Lester has shown enough both last season and in his rehab that he can handle pitching in the big leagues.

I don't doubt that he can mentally handle the majors. Or that he will succeed in the majors.

But in two of his last three starts he hasn't been able to go further that five innings. He's also shown a "one-up, one-down" rhythm in his last five starts, which is what you'd expect from someone rehabbing.

I'd rather he have a little more time to come back 100%. We don't need him now; we will come September.

Well, my thinking was, if it was just a spot start, there would be absolutely nothing to lose with Lester getting a reward for his hard work and dedication to coming back and being ready to play so soon by giving him the spot start.

That's my thinking.
