The Pierce legacy

Nice piece on Paul Pierce by J.A. Adande on ESPN online today. The slant of the piece is that Pierce is now on the cusp of a vital 4-5 years in which his career as a Celtic will be defined.

I bought a Pierce jersey in Boston in '99 and wearing it back here in Dublin in our midweek basketball games recently I thought to myself;

A: ''Wow this is snug''
B: ''How on earth is Pierce not more popular in Boston?''

The things he has done in his career are amazing. Adande makes a couple of good points;

''Pierce's career scoring average of 23.6 points per game is the highest of the new Big Three. He led the league in total points in 2001-02, something not even Bird did.''

So maybe finally Pierce, with the supporting cast around him, can take his career to the next level and finally find the respect he deserves in, not only the States in general, but Boston itself.
