Holy freakin crap! Or - Boston seems serious about trading for Johan 'The Man' Santana

Just imagine this for one short second. Maybe sit down while you are doing it.

Red Sox rotation
2008 MLB season

  • Josh Beckett
  • Johan Santana
  • Curt Schilling
  • Daisuke Matsuzaka
  • Jon Lester

I mean, just, like, totally, wow. That's a championship caliber rotation right there. I threw in Lester as the number five because I think he has been under-rated, he looked very, very composed, sharp and competitive in the playoffs. Anyway, why all this insane ranting? Yahoo sports is reporting that Boston look like serious players in the Santana stakes

Just imagine.

I'd rather see them go after the A's Danny Haren. He's younger, cheaper, talented, will cost the Sox less and firm up the middle of the rotation without having to surrender Buchholz or Ellsbury.

They certainly shouldn't give away Ellsbury AND a young pitcher ( Clay Buchholz), plus others, solely to acquire Santana.

If they can give up Crisp, Lester and 2 middling-to-top tier prospects in the minors, that might work.

Ellsbury is only going to be 25 and is possibly a future star. Clay Buchholz: you gotta like the potential after the No-no. And he could replace Schilling - since he's about had it.
