In the news today..

Excellent piece on whether certain NFL teams should be pressing the panic button as yet or not in ESPN today. The section on New England is very pragmatic. Worth a read if you are a NFL fan, and I know 98% of my readers are.

Dodgers v Red Sox World Series anyone? Nomar, D-Lowe and Manny up against their old crew? Sound tantalising? Well that possibility moved one small step closer to becoming a reality with the Dodgers win last night;
''Manny Ramírez and Nomar Garciaparra homered, and host Los Angeles clinched a tie for its first NL West championship in four years.''

It still feels off reading ''Manny Ramírez and Nomar Garciaparra homered'' and it not being about Boston.

Naturally, this statement could come back to haunt me, however, I am not wildly worried about starting the ALDS in Anaheim. My reasoning, between Beckett and Lester, you have to think Boston could take one out of the first two out West, no? That would swing things in Boston's favour for the rest of the series.

Former Irish national baseball team veteran, Chris Foy, knows all about JD Drew's error last night! On the play, Drew said;
"Probably the hardest play you can make in Fenway Park right there, you get a ball that came off the wall so fast. I didn't get my glove down in time."
In 2001 the Irish baseball team played an exhibition game at Fenway Park, and on one play, Foy was lost in the right field corner for about a half hour trying to retrieve a ball. There were seven errors on the play.

Well, it was more Chris's anecdote, really, but, we were all there.
