Playoff baseball! Yes!
If you love baseball, and you love playoffs, this is the best time of the year EVER. Playoff baseball! It's just billions of fun, from the frigid air, the batters wearing balaclavas, the colourful bunting and a bouncing, energetic Fenway crowd, playoff baseball, in a word, rocks.
As we move into the most exciting part of the baseball season, one wonders, what is the best possible World Series matchup for 2008? Bear in mind this is a list of the best, most enjoyable and indeed most watchable World Series matchups. Not the most likely to occur by any stretch.
Let's chop it up.
Top five potentially drool worthy World Series matchups: Number two!!
Chicago Sox v Chicago Cubs
The windy city goes nuts! This would be something like the subway series except actually fun. Huge, vibrant crowds, a huge rivalry. The NL team actually might stand a chance here too, people seem to have forgotten the NL is 0-for-forever in the All Star game and being bullied by the AL like never before in interleague play. However, the Cubbies would definitely stand a chance against the White Sox, making for a competitive, entertaining and potentially enthralling series.
No West Coast team means nice. easy start times, even for those baseball junkies living in Ireland and the rest of Europe.
Great matchups all over the diamond, with some of baseball's best boppers on show, Soriano, Lee, Ramirez, Thome, Konerko, Ken Griffey Jnr and many more. With the wind blowing out at Wrigley you could be looking at a couple of 12-10 scorelines, and plenty of over worked bullpen arms.
Plus, on top of all that, you know Guillen would eventually say something stupid or do something completely retarded. The sky is the limit with him.
Great potential matchup, and it's not even the best!
