Breaking down the NLCS

Game four - Monday
PHI: Blanton (0-0, 0.00 ERA)
LAD: Lowe (0-1, 3.38 ERA)

Let me start this by saying I am an enormous Derek Lowe fan. He seems like a veritable free spirit and I love those types, without them we are stuck in a world of grey dross. However (come on, you had to know there was a 'however' coming) Lowe is a 'pitch to contact' kind of guy, not the kind of guy to contain the Phillies offence. However, the good news for the Dodgers fan is, Blanton doesn't have much hope of containing the LA lineup either. This could end up in a slugfest type situation. Bottom line? D-Lowe will contain the Phillies more than Blanton can hope to corral to the Ma$y Ramir$z gang. LA can take this one 10-4 or 10-6 maybe. Suddenly, what do you know, it's 2-2, all tied up.

Good times on the D-Train

Game five - Wednesday
PHI: Hamels (1-0, 2.57 ERA)
LAD: Billingsley (0-1, 27.00 ERA)

Chad Billingsley isn't that bad. However (key word of this piece, 'however') Cole Hamels is that good. Hamels is set to be a star for the Phillies for a long time. This game might see his complete emergence into the limelight. Phillies take this and regain the NLCS momentum 3-2.

Game six - Friday
LAD: Kuroda (1-0, 3.00 ERA)
PHI: Myers (1-0, 9.00 ERA)

I want the Dodgers to take this one. I want them to slap Myers around, give him a taste of his own medicine, as it were. However (yes, I went there, again), the fact of the matter is the Phillies home crowd and Myers bulldog mentality should be enough, assuming they are sensible and pitch around Ma$$y, forcing the lesser lights of the LA lineup to deliver. On the road, I don' think they will. The NLCS ends here, Phillies 4-2 and going to the World Series.
