Roll out the red carpet - 3. The NL CY Young award

NL Cy Young: Tim Lincecum

Big CC takes the MVP and little Timmy takes the CY Young. Why doesn't CC take the Cy along with the MVP? Tim Lincecum's pure pitching numbers are actually even better! Why haven't I even mentioned Brandon Webb and his incredible 22-7 record? Tim Lincecum's pure pitching numbers are actually even better!

To get the low win total out of the way first, first of all Lincecum had five saves blown on him by the Giants relief corp. He also had five starts where, incredibly, he gave up no more than one earned run and didn't get a win. To call a spade a spade, if Lincecum had been pitching for the Diamondbacks, for example, he might have had 24/25 wins.

Instead, he is left with 17 wins and some of the best statistics for a right hander since the out-of-this-world line clocked in by one Pedro Martinez in 1999. A 2.66 ERA, 252 strikeouts, a .223 opponent batting average and 10.31 strikeouts per 9 innings. Glittering numbers, Cy Young worthy numbers.
