With the playoffs looming large the final weekend of the MLB regular season is bursting at the seams with intrigue.
In the AL, Boston aren't just fighting for the AL East title, with the Yankees, but there is a possibly even bigger war going on between all four AL clubs.
Right now Boston, Cleveland, New York are battling for the best record in the AL. Cleveland had a chance to take it last night with Boston losing but completely blew it.
As a friend on the .406 club forum wrote late last night, 'Ich bin ein Mariner!'. A problem for Boston in the run in might be the Twins excellent pitching that they have to face in the last three games.
Boston are going to have to win at least two of those to keep ahead of the pack. Interesting weekend ahead.
Meanwhile! Great drama in New York. The Mets are on the cusp of a Yankee-2004 like collapse. At one stage they held a seven game lead but after a four game losing streak the incredible Phillies have tied New York in wins and lead on tie-breakers.
Old friend Pedro Martinez describes the goings on at Shea Stadium
"When I first got here, I was really excited. Right now, I'm a little worried about how things have developed."
That's an understatement!
Fascinating final weekends baseball ahead. It's definitely getting serious.
