There's always a few begrudgers out there.
Former ESPN journalist Jemele Hill had this to say after the majestic '08 Boston Celtics tore the NBA title out of the hands of the media darling LA Lakers;
ESPN promptly suspended Mrs Hill, saying;
Interestingly, Mrs Hill has, instead of laying low and choosing the right time to make the right apologetic statement, come out all guns firing on her personal blog (which I love the format of, by the way, love what you have done with the place, Mrs Hill!). She alludes to forthcoming 'information' on the issue. She comments aggressively about now knowing who 'has her back'.
The problem here is that back when Don Imus committed professional suicide and made his ignorant comments, Jemele Hill hopped jubilantly on the 'bury Imus!' bandwagon and had this to say;
Well Jemele, you have now been offensive to the Jewish community, the entire New England region and anybody who knows anything about Cold war politics. And you now 'need' to lose your job.
Bye bye, Jemele..
Sorry Mrs Hill, you are completely in the wrong on this one, and you have no one to blame but yourself.

“Rooting for the Celtics is like saying Hitler was a victim. It’s like hoping Gorbachev would get to the blinking red button before Reagan.”
ESPN promptly suspended Mrs Hill, saying;
“Jemele has been relieved of her writing and on-air responsibilities for a period of time to reflect on the impact of her words,”

The problem here is that back when Don Imus committed professional suicide and made his ignorant comments, Jemele Hill hopped jubilantly on the 'bury Imus!' bandwagon and had this to say;
“He is routinely offensive to people of color and women, and if he needs to lose his job to understand that there is no place for that, so be it.”
Well Jemele, you have now been offensive to the Jewish community, the entire New England region and anybody who knows anything about Cold war politics. And you now 'need' to lose your job.
The bottom line is, if you are paid to comment on sports (or anything else really) in a public forum, and you goof up, well, you better be prepared to accept the consequences. Clearly Mrs Hill is not ready to do that, and is going to put up an ugly fight to save face, when, at the end of the day, she is just another Don Imus.
Bye bye, Jemele..
